Venezuela

Venezuela officially the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (Spanish: República Bolivariana de Venezuela), is a country on the northern coast of South America, consisting of a continental landmass and many islands and islets in the Caribbean Sea. It has a territorial extension of 916,445, and its population was estimated at 29 million in 2022. The capital and largest urban agglomeration is the city of Caracas.

The continental territory is bordered on the north by the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean, on the west by Colombia, Brazil on the south, Trinidad and Tobago to the north-east and on the east by Guyana. The Venezuelan government maintains a claim against Guyana to Guayana Esequiba. Venezuela is a federal presidential republic consisting of 23 states, the Capital District and federal dependencies covering Venezuela's offshore islands. Venezuela is among the most urbanized countries in Latin America; the vast majority of Venezuelans live in the cities of the north and in the capital.

Bolivar Square in Caracas
The Bol�var Square of Caracas, located in the historic center of the Cathedral Parish of the Libertador Municipality; being one of the most important public spaces in Venezuela, surrounded by important buildings such as the Sacred Museum, the Cathedral of Caracas, the Municipal Palace, the Chapel of Santa Rosa de Lima, the Archbishop's Palace, the Yellow House and the Government of the Capital District .

This place was destined for the Plaza Mayor; After the independence of Venezuela, it was known by the name "Plaza Mayor y Plaza del Mercado" due to its commercial use. In 1842 it changed to the official name of "Plaza Bol�var", since the remains of Sim�n Bol�var arrived in Caracas from Santa Marta.

Already in 1865, Juan Cris�stomo Falc�n, President of the Republic, entrusted his position to Antonio Guzm�n Blanco, he determined to suppress all kinds of commerce and demolish the arcades that were around the square. On November 18, 1872, when Guzm�n Blanco was already in power, he decided to erect a statue in honor of Sim�n Bol�var, with four iron fountains recreating the 4 seasons of the year in the corners; in addition to installing 100 decorative posts and a metal handrail around Plaza Bol�var.

On November 7, 1874, the statue of Sim�n Bol�var was inaugurated, with cannon shots and replicas of bells. The statue is 4 meters high and was the work of Ad�n Todalini, a replica of the statue in Plaza Bol�var in Lima - Peru, made with the mold of the Von M�ller Foundation. In 1959 the statue is designated a Commemorative Monument.

Over the years, Plaza Bol�var has had several modifications such as installing electric light, removing floors, putting in gardens, among others.
