Thought you were the most unfortunate person on earth? Then lucky you, Kamijou Touma, a normal high school student, believes that he has the worst luck ever possible. Constantly falling into unfortunate situations, even his classmates rejoice that their bad lack gets attracted to him whenever he is around.

To add to this, he has a mysterious power in his right hand which allows him to negate any supernatural ability, that even the world's scientifically advanced Academy City is unable to detect. But, is he as unlucky as it seems?

One day he meets a young girl by the name Index Librorum Prohibitorum, whom he decides to protect at all costs as he gradually discovers a new realm of the supernatural.
