Weather Vanes

A Weather vane , wind vane is an instrument for showing the direction of the wind.
The word vane comes from the Old English word fana meaning " flag ".
Although partly functional weather vanes are generally decorative , often featuring the traditional cockerel design , with letters indicating the points of the compass.

... that just happens to be on a very big clock! :D

I actually took this photograph with my new group Traffic Signals nSigns in mind... but when I was looking at it on my desktop, I was delighted to see that it had a little weather vane on top of the clock! I've been trying & trying to find pictures for the Weather Vane group... which is also very new, and I've finally got one! :D So Kathy, leader of the Weather Vane group, this one's for you! :D
