My recent automobile uploads were representative of the automotive world's "brass era". The use of brass trim has roots in early 1800's. Horse drawn carriages, hand and steam pumpers used for firefighting, then automobiles, which ended in 1915. In 1916 brass was needed for ammunition in WWI. So automobile trim was then painted or nickle plated steel. In 1928 chrome plating began.
