Wallpaper Description:

Bolivar Square in Caracas
The Bolvar Square of Caracas, located in the historic center of the Cathedral Parish of the Libertador Municipality; being one of the most important public spaces in Venezuela, surrounded by important buildings such as the Sacred Museum, the Cathedral of Caracas, the Municipal Palace, the Chapel of Santa Rosa de Lima, the Archbishop's Palace, the Yellow House and the Government of the Capital District .

This place was destined for the Plaza Mayor; After the independence of Venezuela, it was known by the name "Plaza Mayor y Plaza del Mercado" due to its commercial use. In 1842 it changed to the official name of "Plaza Bolvar", since the remains of Simn Bolvar arrived in Caracas from Santa Marta.

Already in 1865, Juan Crisstomo Falcn, President of the Republic, entrusted his position to Antonio Guzmn Blanco, he determined to suppress all kinds of commerce and demolish the arcades that were around the square. On November 18, 1872, when Guzmn Blanco was already in power, he decided to erect a statue in honor of Simn Bolvar, with four iron fountains recreating the 4 seasons of the year in the corners; in addition to installing 100 decorative posts and a metal handrail around Plaza Bolvar.

On November 7, 1874, the statue of Simn Bolvar was inaugurated, with cannon shots and replicas of bells. The statue is 4 meters high and was the work of Adn Todalini, a replica of the statue in Plaza Bolvar in Lima - Peru, made with the mold of the Von Mller Foundation. In 1959 the statue is designated a Commemorative Monument.

Over the years, Plaza Bolvar has had several modifications such as installing electric light, removing floors, putting in gardens, among others.
