Songbirds

A songbird is a bird belonging to the clade Passeri of the perching birds (Passeriformes). Another name that is sometimes seen as scientific or vernacular name is Oscines, from Latin oscen, "a songbird". This group contains some 4,000 species found all over the world, in which the vocal organ typically is developed in such a way as to produce a diverse and elaborate bird song.

I photographed this woodpecker on a very cold day back in February. I was thrilled to be able to get such a close shot of her.

PS. I uploaded this wallpaper as a test wall, although I would have been uploading it sooner or later anyhow. I was concerned because no April wallpapers had been uploaded for at least 3 hours. Now there are at least a couple of spam wallpapers up dated April 1st. I never thought I'd be glad to see spammer wallpapers... lol (Yes I reported them.) :)
