Limonium is a genus of 120 flowering plant species and numerous colors. Members are also known as sea-lavender, statice, caspia, beach lilac, or marsh-rosemary. Despite their common names, species are not related to the lavenders or to rosemary. Statice, or sea lavender, are beautiful flowers in flower beds, cut, or dried, and are one of the butterfly magnet flowers. Papery calyces are what make sea lavender so popular for cutting, because they hold onto their color much longer than the flowers do. Sea lavender flowers throughout the summer.
