Pioneer Days

Before the days of Internet , television and running water; before the days of grocery stores , electricity and cars - life was simple. Food had to be grown in your garden and cooked on a wood stove or open fire. All your clothes were made by hand. Homes had outhouses and chamber pots. Walking or horse drawn wagons were the method of necessity. Every student attended school in the same room. A hotel room cost as little as 10 cents per night. This group will take you back 200 years in time and show you the life as a settler in a county during the 19th Century. Wallpaper Description:

I took this photograph in Shipshewana Indiana, where most of the population is Amish. Most Amish people don't wish to be photographed, so I did my best to leave the people out of it. I love the way they get around. Horses are far more classy than automobiles, in my opinion. lol Don't get me wrong, I am thankful for cars and don't know what I would do without mine... but I've been horse crazy since I was a kid, and that hasn't changed one bit. :)

I took this photo rather hurriedly and didn't realize until later that the horses heads are somewhat hidden by a sign. At first I was disappointed by that until I realized that the sign read; "Horse Drawn Vehicles Only." A parking lot for buggies only? How neat is that? I wish we had a parking lot like that where I live... I'd go and visit with the horses all day! :D

PS. Furthermore, I think it's great that my Traffic Signals nSigns group now has a horse and buggy wallpaper in it. :)
