Magnificent Mandalas

What is Mandala?

The word "mandala" is from the classical Indian language of Sanskrit. Loosely translated to mean "circle," a mandala is far more than a simple shape. It represents wholeness, and can be seen as a model for the organizational structure of life itself--a cosmic diagram that reminds us of our relation to the infinite, the world that extends both beyond and within our bodies and minds.Mandalas are commonly used by tantric Buddhists as an aid to meditation.

In this group, you don't need to worry about sticking 100% to a religious meanings of mandalas. We would like to see shapes that reflect symmetry or, a motif of some kind. Your images can be circles, squares or rectangles. If rectangles, they have to have round or square central point. The rest I leave up to your imagination and preference.

Hi, so glad someone has picked up the tread, but I feel a little puzzled with your comment "Not good to see your work on another site without permission, right?". I have uploaded many of Linda's mandalas after she left and gave me this group. She recommended to download them first because they disappear once you leave the group (as a leader). I put her name next to each title (her title) so that people can see that I haven't uploaded these in my own name. I just wanted them to stay in the group since Linda started the group. Someone has downloaded her images to Free HQ. I mean, what can I do? That's life. I once found one of my uploads that I created from scratch on another site. It was altered but still I recognized my work. I just shrugged my shoulders. If I want to hold exclusive right to my images I put a watermark on them or have them copyrighted. I like sharing but that's me. I'm very tribal. But I will alert Linda. I thank you for bringing this to my attention. Love, Hattie
