Horse-Chestnuts

The horse chestnut is a beautiful ornamental tree with attractive leaves and flowers. It produces prickly fruit capsules which each contain a glossy brown and nut-like seed. It's native to Southeastern Europe but is grown in parks, landscaped areas and gardens around the world. They are one of my favorite trees. The flowers are lovely to see in late spring and early summer and the conkers are fun to collect in autumn.
