Homemade Abstracts

Do you usually upload wallpaper images that you see on line? Try doing something different. It is very fulfilling to create your own designs. You will be truly amazed at what you can create with graphics arts tools!

This group celebrates the joy of making your own wallpaper designs with a program, such as SUMO Paint, The Gimp, Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, etc.

Using the SUMO Paint program is a great way to get started. You can try it for free on line. One of the best tools in it is the Gradient Tool. It is easy to use, and you can get beautiful results with it easily.

I made a couple hundred browser designs with SUMO Paint for free before I finally purchased it, so that I could use it off line also. I still use it for everything I make.

Whether you enjoy fractal patterns, kaleleidoscopic designs, interesting shapes, repeating patterns, or wild swirls of color, you will enjoy the walls displayed here. Be sure and add to them with your own creations!

Wallpaper Description:

50 years ago... in a way it's hard to believe that it's been that long.

I was at horseback riding camp when it happened. I loved horses and riding camp. I had worked hard to earn some of the money to get there-- the horses made it expensive.

The only day I regretted not being home was Sunday, July 20, 1969, the day when they landed on the moon. The camp counselors had a small black & white TV for about 150 kids. The camp was out in the middle of nowhere, so we didn't get a very good signal or picture. A lot of the younger kids wouldn't stop talking; they didn't seem to realize how exciting and important that landing on the moon was. At least I didn't think so.

Now, in 2019, it is simply amazing to realize what they accomplished in 1969. It had taken 400,000 people to get Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins to get to the moon. They thought that their computer equipment was sophisticated and ahead of it's time. It was... for back then. The software & programming it took to get men to the moon easily fits into a smartphone today. Simply amazing!

Do you remember where you were and what you were doing when Neil Armstrong took his first step onto the moon? Feel free to put it in the wallpaper comments! :D

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."

Neil Armstrong July 20, 1969
(Said when he took his first step onto the moon's surface.)

PS. I felt sorry for Michael Collins. He went all the way to the moon and remained in the command module. I wished that he'd had a chance to walk on the moon too. I bet that I wasn't the only child who felt that way... :)
