Homemade Abstracts

Do you usually upload wallpaper images that you see on line? Try doing something different. It is very fulfilling to create your own designs. You will be truly amazed at what you can create with graphics arts tools!

This group celebrates the joy of making your own wallpaper designs with a program, such as SUMO Paint, The Gimp, Paint Shop Pro, Photoshop, etc.

Using the SUMO Paint program is a great way to get started. You can try it for free on line. One of the best tools in it is the Gradient Tool. It is easy to use, and you can get beautiful results with it easily.

I made a couple hundred browser designs with SUMO Paint for free before I finally purchased it, so that I could use it off line also. I still use it for everything I make.

Whether you enjoy fractal patterns, kaleleidoscopic designs, interesting shapes, repeating patterns, or wild swirls of color, you will enjoy the walls displayed here. Be sure and add to them with your own creations!

Wallpaper Description:

I created this abstract a couple of Summers ago and never got around to uploading it. I am inspired to now because of the frigid temperatures in Michigan (and other states & Canada) as a polar vortex goes through our area. Just having it on my screen makes me feel warmer. :D

PS. Now I need anything I can get to feel warmer! Last night Michigan residents got contacted by Michigan's Emergency Alert system and were requested to voluntarily lower our thermostats to 65 degrees Fahrenheit or lower! The reason: Consumer's Energy experienced a fire that affected their services in a big way. Because of the frigid temperatures they needed to make this request so that residents, hospitals, and senior citizen assisted living centers would not have to experience any interruptions in service.

My husband got the request to turn down our thermostat on his cell phone about 10 pm. At the time, it was at least 10 below 0 with a windchill of 40 below. We groaned in disbelief... and then complied. Today I learned that many automotive plants and other major businesses cancelled their 1st and 2nd shifts to help save power.

Right now I'm typing this in a chilly house, but the good news is that everybody pitched in and it helped a lot. At midnight tonight we can safely turn our thermostats back up again. :)

Feel free to leave any experiences you have had with this incredible cold snap in the wallpaper comments! :D
