Eat flowers you have grown yourself, or know to be safe for consumption. Flowers from the florist or nursery have probably been treated with pesticides or other chemicals.Edible flowers may be preserved for future use using techniques such as drying, freezing or steeping in oil.
They can be used in drinks, jellies, salads, soups, syrups and main dishes
Chamomiles
These plants are best known for their ability to be made into an infusion which is commonly used to help with sleep and is often served with honey or lemon, or both.
Jasmines
It contains around 200 species native to tropical and warm temperate regions of the old world. Jasmines are widely cultivated for the characteristic fragrance of their flowers.
Lilacs
Lilacs are used as food plants , Lilacs are often considered to symbolize love . In Greece , Lebanon and Cyprus, the lilac is strongly associated with Easter time because it flowers around that time; it is consequently called paschalia.
Roses
Rose hips are occasionally made into jam,jelly, and marmalade, or are brewed for tea, primarily for their high Vitamin C content. They are also pressed and filtered to make rose hip syrup. Rose hips are also used to produce Rose Hip seed Oil, which is used in skin products and some makeup products.
Sunflowers
Sunflower "whole seed" fruit are sold as a snack food, raw or after roasting in ovens, with or without salt and/or seasonings added. Sunflowers can be processed into a peanut butter alternative, sunflower butter. In Germany, it is mixed with rye flour to make sunflower whole seed bread, which is quite popular in German-speaking Europe. It is also sold as food for birds and can be used directly in cooking and salads. American Indians had multiple uses for sunflowers in the past, such as in bread, medical ointments, dyes and body paints.
