Ducks and Geese

Duck is the common name for a large number of species in the waterfowl family Anatidae which also includes swans and geese. Ducks are mostly aquatic birds, mostly smaller than the swans and geese, and may be found in both fresh water and sea water.

Wallpaper Description:

I made this wallpaper because I was truly in need of some comic relief... and I figured that other people from Metro Detroit or other places that have experienced flooding would appreciate it too.

Unlike many people, my car isn't stalled out or buried on a Freeway, but thanks to an incredible torrential downpower (it's been called a 100 year storm) my husband and I have been dealing with plenty of other things... a flooded basement, and ruined appliances. We have rented a huge dumpster and will have plenty of things to put in it. No hot water at this point either.

We live close to freeway I-75 where some of the major flooding occurred. Here is a video of some of the freeway problems that amazes me each time I watch it!

The craziest thing (for me anyway) about this flood is that it happened on August 11th, my birthday! It totally busted up the celebration! Truly a birthday that I will NEVER forget... and nor will anybody else in this area. I believe this is what they call a 100 year flood. Nothing like this has happened in this area since 1925.

PS. Like many people around here, we have no flood insurance. We live miles from the nearest body of water. We never even thought about flood insurance until this happened.

PPS. The duck photograph is one that my husband took at Greenfield Village a few years ago. I used it because it fit the occasion perfectly.
