A lot of thought went into considering what we felt would be the best of the best, and we feel that the criteria that is set is perfect for the intention of this group. Thank you for your interest and comment!

I agree sweetwitchy, I don't think any of my images will ever make it to this level, though would love to see what ends up here with such strict guidelines. Who says that every group must be large with thousands of images. hrdave you could create another group that would have different rules, that's what's great about this site, everyone can create their own unique group.

The criteria for this Group has been opened up a little. We are still aiming more for Quality than Quantity here.At the time I joined DN most of the Groups had already been formed. Also I didn't know anyone here except for one user who suggested I try this site out. After posting a few pix and looking around the site it seemed to me that most of the Groups fell into two categories.
General Groups: Require a type or object, some kind of identifiers to belong to the Group. Color, Plant, Animal, Place, ect. Users seem to add pix to these groups in a spirit of camaraderie and sharing.
Prestige Groups: Require a set of objectives to be met in order to qualify for inclusion. Users seem to add pix to these Groups for the reasons listed above as well, but also in a spirit of friendly competition.
My observations seem to indicate that the "prestige type groups" have a level of difficulty associated with them that requires more "social flexibilty" to excel in them. They require an expenditure of time spent introducing ones self to other users and getting to know each other more personally than the "general type groups" do.
I don't know if this is "fair" but it does seem to be the dynamic here.
