Time

♥.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.*.♥

Time is very slow for those who wait;
very fast for those who are scared;
very long for those who lament;
very short for those who celebrate;
but for those who love, time is eternal.
(William Shakespeare)

Wallpaper Description:

One Room Schoolhouses used to be the norm in many countries, in North America and countries all over the world. One teacher would often teach the 1st through the 8th grades. Different grades would take turns reciting for the teacher. Children were able to start learning from the grades above theirs while listening to the other classes.

On cold days, the teacher would be certain to arrive at school earlier than anyone else so they could build a fire in the potbelly stove to warm up the school for their students. Many children brought a lunch pail to school with bread & butter, or perhaps cheese and apples, but some teachers cooked a warm meal as well. Teachers gave students responsibilities such as bringing in coal or wood for the stove, or cleaning the chalkboard and erasers.

I took this photograph at Sauder Village in Archbold Ohio. It's the inside of a one room schoolhouse that was used for many years. I was so interested in the inside of the schoolhouse that I forgot to take a photo of it from the outside! :D

PS. They aren't very common anymore, but there are still some active one room schoolhouses. The ones that are left tend to be in remote or rural areas. Amish people use them also. If anyone on Desktop Nexus got taught in one, I'd love to know about it! Feel free to leave a comment on this wallpaper (whether you were or not.)
