Howl's Moving Castle is a fantasy novel by British author Diana Wynne Jones, first published in 1986 by Greenwillow Books of New York. Howl's Moving Castle is the first novel in the series of books called the Howl Series. This series also includes Castle in the Air, published in 1990, and House of Many Ways, published in 2008.
The 2004 Japanese animated fantasy film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki is based on the novel. The film was produced by Toshio Suzuki, animated by Studio Ghibli and distributed by Toho.
Plot: When an unconfident young woman is cursed with an old body by a spiteful witch, her only chance of breaking the spell lies with a self-indulgent yet insecure young wizard and his companions in his legged, walking castle.
