Politically, I am very frustrated by the fact that so many Americans are being taken in by Fox News, Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, etc., who do not present anything like facts regarding any subject to their audiences. Fox News has been caught several times showing video clips from one event, such as a gathering that was filmed somewhere where people were picketing in a somewhat violent way, with palm trees in the background, and calling it the Wisconsin demonstrations that were happening this winter. I have been to Wisconsin and I have never really seen a palm tree there. This is one isolated incident I am not going to take up a lot of space naming more. The Koch brothers, born into wealth, for whatever reason just do not think the United States should have a middle class any longer. They are not the only culprits but right now they are right in the thick of it. They have a demonstrated pattern where they create organizations, rent a few of your nicer buses, load them up with demonstrators some of the paid, usually with a title like, Americans Against Government Waste, or along those lines, and have them go county to county convincing people to vote against their own best interests. Go ahead and Google "Koch Brothers" and see what you can find out. Yes, they give to a lot of great causes. They are however, one of the biggest polluters the United States has and that is one reason they want less government control. Look it up for yourselves. I do not think that anybody should be questioning the intelligence of anyone else as long as we have people who are willing to let the middle class dissolve. I am perplexed as to why it is the people who have next to nothing who are so against the idea of raising the tax on the upper portion of wage earners. The "redistribution" of wealth as it is being called on Fox would only be good for you if that is what it was. However, most of the people making the biggest fuss about it are those who are getting the biggest reaming by our economy. The "trickle down" effect of the Bush tax cuts did not work for the 8 years they were there. There were more jobs sent overseas to take advantage of THOSE tax breaks as well. The fairy tale about the big corporations going somewhere else if the taxes were higher here, where would they go? They already export the majority of their manufacturing jobs. They don't pay into the tax system, they get rebates, and to top it off, one of the tax cuts that they want to get into the budget (they may have I do not know) is to cut money to the IRS. The director of the IRS has already said that if his budget was cut any more it would be taken from the enforcement allotment. What a great idea, let's not even go after the people who owe tax but haven't paid. With these kinds of things happening around us, the citizens of the United States should be standing shoulder to shoulder as allies to keep everything that we can from being taken away. Why should anyone care how much vacation time teachers, public workers and such get, they should get it too! The U.S. is the only industrialized country that does not have routine four and five week vacation packages. If we don't start working together before we know it we'll be walking together in food lines or worse. Let's stop the bickering and get to work! |
