I was reading the thread on terrorism and freedom, and an interesting thought occurred to me.

Is it possible for wars to become a thing of the past, a weakness of less civilised times, or will human nature always cause a struggle for power or possession?

Please any thoughts would be appreciated.

War appeared as soon as there were states. As soon as the national state of war were horrific. It's not the people. The point of those who rule the people. In their desire to sprinkle the altars with the blood of victims of the authorities. I suspect that the world is ruled by a cult.

(Meanwhile I don't know English very well) .Even before the states there were/are always conflicts,fights, etc in human history because human is "homo economicus" Only by the states and nations fights became more systematic and horrible But I dont mean humans are devil. With all goods and bads we are people

Wars will never end they get bigger smaller they go some place else as long as the true enemy exist we will forever fight and over come and we will over come just so we cant fight there is no reason why we should ever stop. We fight to gain power and we gain power in order to fight. We are all fighting to gain the CROWN and in the fight we are not all equal no position is permanent weakness will always be taken advantage. In the disputes for power there is no greater position than to hold the CROWN and that is why we fight TO BE KING!!!!!!!!!!

Until the fear of one another is abolished, we will continue to waste blood and treasure on building weapons to kill our own species.

Fear is not the enemy! Following the leader is enemy by puting man first it will always lead to war because you are noty following GOD. People want to end war yet not change themselves. What good is all wishes for a better tomorow when the people don't want to change. When all we elect to the goverment is liars and cowards obama and McCain. These are the people we elect we say we want peace that's a joke!

Crikey that was rather heated dualxseal. I take it you're religious? I don't know about world war three - I dont think wars can never again be fought like those that have gone before again. Our weapons are too deadly and long range. Trench warfare etc could never happen. I think that the war has already started - the war against greed and anarchy.

The true war is in the heart of man till we study ourseleves and conquer only or selves with GOD will wars end. WAR is not the enemy choices are not the enemy we are the enemies of our selves

I think all wars on world will stop if the mankind has a same goal to reach.
That can only be something for our survival I think, because there is no other way to get all 6 billion people together. Maybe if we know that a huge asteroid or comet will hit us in several years and we have to built a very big spaceship to reach that one in time to get it out of direction from earth.
Otherwise I would say there is no chance of endless freedom.
