Hi everyone!
As part of our recent campaign to maintain the integrity and quality of the wallpapers on Desktop Nexus through our recent growth, we just rolled out a new system for reporting wallpaper violations. Desktop Nexus is getting HUNDREDS of new wallpapers uploaded everyday, and if we don't have a solid system in place for moderation, we'll soon be overrun with inappropriate and miscategorized images.
If you remember before this evening, this is what the old "Report This Wallpaper" pop-up looked like:

The new system is much more advanced. Now when you click that same tab, you'll be presented with this center-screen pop-up:

Each option has more detailed information inside about what that violation actually means, and allows members to leave their own comments for a moderator at the same time. In the past, we've received a large number of reported wallpapers, and without context, it's hard for me to understand why they're being reported.

Beyond this, the new system collects more data on category violations and tag violations (new). If a wallpaper is miscategorized, for example, this system will ask you where you feel it should be. This will make the job of the staff much easier, because if they agree, one click on our end with "agree" with you, and automatically move the wallpaper. Beyond this, if enough unique members recommend the same move location, it will prioritized that move higher on the todo list for the moderators, and will probably be taken care of quicker. After the site grows, and this system is solidified, these type of move actions might even become automated.
Now, most of you have (hopefully) seen the thread that's been pinned to the top of this forum for the past few months on
New Galleries / Categories. I'm going to start the process of updating the category system in the next hour or so. This is going to subsequently create a number of brand new, empty categories. I would really appreciate your help in assisting with the recategorization effort. If you find any wallpapers that belong in the new categories, report them as miscategorized, and select the new category as where you feel it should go. Hopefully this will thin out a large portion of the "Other" folders.
Now, I'm sure a number of people are going to say "but what about duplicates?". I know, this system doesn't handle duplicates, and right now there's no way to report them except PM'ing a moderator manually. Rest assured, I'm aware of the duplicate problem, and I have some magic I'm working behind the scenes for a way to take care of them. The duplicate issue is going to be the next project on this campaign... I haven't forgotten, don't worry.

Let me know what you all think of the new reporting system! Any feedback?
