Initially I thought the "friends" idea was great and I hooked up with a couple of people purely because I like their wallpapers but I don't like the fact that it makes me feel as if I'm intruding, because every little move they make gets displayed on my homepage....pity, I may just delete all my "friends" - no offence to anyone! Feels a bit like being exposed to the "screwings and doings of the ewings" - no thanks!

There seems to be a glitch with some of the font; the apostrophe, colon, and semicolon leaves this behind instead (%u2019) when you post a pm or a comment.

The profile page are so dull looking to me now, it would be nice if the first gadget back would be a slide show gadget. It is quite and it promotes our wall papers to those who stop by.

Thanks Mimibunny. I noticed that when I first logged on today Community/Forum was on the header and I was able to access the forums the normal way because the actual page hadn't loaded yet. I am going to change a couple of my mouse settings to see it they are causing the problem.

@ Komodo - While the new format was a bit of a shock, I am quickly getting used to it. As for customizing member pages, I am a member of another website that allows us to choose from "skins" that have been created by other members.

Perhaps you could set up some guidelines and have an open contest for DN members to come up with skins for this website. All members could then vote on them and the top 10?, or whatever number you decide, would become the official skins of the website with the members signatures on them in recognition of their contribution.

We have some unbelievably creative people on this website and it would be a fantastic opportunity for them to "strut their stuff".

I like the fan concept of the new profiles. I had over 30 friends before I even logged online to see the new profile... honestly I was flattered to see that so many people were a fan of me. Thanks guys :) Iam at 42 now... wow, thanks again. :)

I 've really made a lot of friends on this site(Kudos). However, I really miss downloading layouts on my site. I think there should be a section for most asked questions on the site. To help people navigate around DN.

A few comments.

Regarding the privacy concerns, the old profiles had the "Last Login" time the exact same as the new profiles. This is nothing new, and is handy for people wanting to see if you abandoned DN years ago, or if you are still active... and sending a PM to you wouldn't be a waste of time (for example). :P

And regarding the Fan Activity Feed (newly named), it does NOT show private messages (they're private!), but rather is only shows you what is already public. Every bit of information that appears on the feed could just as easily be obtained by visiting the user's public profile, this just saves a step for those people you find especially interesting. :) But I do agree, there is a bit too much data, and that is defeating the usefulness of it. I'm about half-way done with an update to that system which should greatly improve it (less information flowing through, with better control/filters). Stay tuned.

Additionally, this entire website is about SHARING wallpapers, and expressing comments about them. It's a community built around public information exchange and collaboration. While this new system is quite radical, and a bit bold, I honestly feel it's a great evolutionary step for Desktop Nexus, facilitating the sharing of information and increasing transparency (of already public information). Facebook (et al) has already had incredible success with a model like this, and after it's fully adopted and the edges smoothed, I feel it could become very successful on Desktop Nexus as well. This is a huge technological leap for the very core foundation of our community, and again, while it's a bit radical, I truly believe if you give it a fair shot, in time it'll prove to be a very positive change.

I am still actively looking for ways to allow further customization to a user's profile, such as custom themes/skins (via a great suggestion a page or two back). That's not going to be immediate, but in the near future.

I agree with another few previous posts, and I am planning on looking for a way to reintegrate uploaded wallpaper thumbnails into the profile homepages.

And yes, viewing all wallpaper comments you've received was an accidental omission from the new profiles. It'll be added back soon. Sorry! :P

I feel the journal entries are too disconnected. Maybe we should build a directory of recent journal entries submitted, or a listing somewhere of the "hottest" journal entries, judged by the number of responses they generate. What do you think of this idea? Any thoughts on how it could be implemented?

Regarding the PM system, previously there was an issue where if you're typing a long message and your session timed you out, it bounced you to the login page, losing your message. Yes, this happened to me too, but in this new system, I just finished a modification that should ensure this never happens again! Now whenever you send a message and your session times out (logging you out) before sending, it will detect this and prompt you to quickly log-in again (for security), before automatically continuing your submission and sending it. I'm not being very clear in explaining it, but I'm sure you'll all see if for yourself sooner or later. Hopefully it will save a lot of frustration.

This transition has rocked Desktop Nexus a bit, and I really do appreciate everyone's patience through it. Your feedback has been (and will continue to be) invaluable in my on-going development, tweaking, and bug fixing. I really do appreciate it! :)

Thanks everyone!
