Good point, the photography category is getting very cluttered and unorganized. However, I'm not sure it's a good idea to keep expanding in this way.
Shouldn't photography exist in every category? If a visitor is browsing the Animals->Birds category, wouldn't they expect to see high-quality photography of birds? By isolating the photography category by itself, it will probably steal high-quality photos from the more accurate categories around the site.
Perhaps we should take your suggestions, such as Urban/Rural and add it as a normal category somewhere else in the site... ?
I do like the idea of Still Life, but couldn't those go into the category of what the still life is of? For example, if the person takes a picture of a basket of apples, it could be categorized in the "Food and Drink -> Fruits" part of the site?
This is why we need a very broad, accurate revision of the current category system.
