The SciFi channel recently changed it's name to SyFy in an attempt to appeal to a more wider audience. What is everyone's thought on the change?

I think it's horribly dumb. My roommate and I heard that and were floored. What were they thinking? If they're playing Star Trek, it won't matter if they call the channel SciFi or SyFy.... if you aren't into Star Trek, you will change the channel. Period. heh

What do you think?

SyFy ? Sounds more like a disease than a name for a channel . . .

Maybe they simply valued pronunciation more. Personally I have found that even English sucks in pronunciation. Not the actually sounding of a word which is top, but the coding which means that the way you would pronounce a word is not always the the way you would write that word.

However, but if they watched too much of Stargate Atlantis when they thought of a new name, then I can only say that those people deserve to be slaughtered!
