I have the d40 and I love it. My mother in law bought the d60 and I don't think it was worth the extra money.

I have a Kodak Z1485 IS. Its 14 Megapixels and it is just a small hand held camara, but in my opinion it is pretty good, but I suppose to some of the camaras you guys have its just a childs toy. However I did pick it up for £87.

I bought a Cannon EOS Rebel 300D DSLR off Ebay just the body for $250 it also came with manual strap and small memory card .I then bought the lens and cover off Ebay for $120 then went to a second hand dealer and bought a zoom lens for $130 .The only thing I bought new was the CF card and bag .If you look at my page you will see what the photo's look like it is awsome I love it and oldie but a goodie but make sure if you do buy high price items off Ebay they have 100%feedback have fun .

Choosing a camera should be like choosing shoes. How will you use them? Any major brand (Canon, Panasonic, Olympus, Nikon, Kodak, Fuji) point-and-shoot camera from a major outlet priced between $100-200 will perform very well for casual use (but not low-light stage action for instance). If you want depth-of-focus artistic capability you will only be happy with an SLR type camera and a prime lens such as 50mm (not that expensive). Check tutorials and reviews on camera specific sites. Happy shooting!
