so im totally new to this but i was going through the Space wallpapers and there's all these amazing fantasy images that look real but obviously arent. i'm just wondering what program people are using to create them.

Consider Photoshop.

Photoshop is probably the best, Thats what I use

Adobe Photo shop is recommended by most, but it's expensive, if you are just starting out you may want to try out "GIMP". It's a free download, just Google it. It may take some time to learn the tricks but there is always YouTube that has several tutorials.
