9 Replies Curious....what are your local gas prices
| Posted by shieldmaiden, 11/14/09 12:44 PM - Permalink I'm just curious to see what gas prices are like world wide. Everyone is always complaining about THEIR gas prices and I'm curious to see who has the highest.
As individuals pay in different standards, i.e. per litre, per US gallon, per Imperial gallon, I will give conversions:
1 US gallon = 3.8 litres 1 Imperial gallon = 4.5 litres
If we use per litre, we can better assess the costs.
Where I live on Vancouver Island, we're paying anywhere from $1.009 per litre to $1.059, for regular grade. Last Edit: 11/14/09 at 12:46 pm |

| Posted by Prosperity88, 11/14/09 5:33 PM - Permalink Well Last time I checked. Majority of the worlds Oil comes from Saudi Arabia. Of course their people wont have to pay a high price for the oil. And they are going to charge the nations who need it the most a high premium. Because with out it the nation wont be able to function. Once Hybrids become more and more popular they demand for oil will decrease. Hybrids are becoming popular everyday. |

| Posted by shieldmaiden, 11/14/09 6:23 PM - Permalink Actually the base price of oil is set by OPEC and the global market. All countries who buy oil from OPEC pay the same amount in US dollars.
The differences in price from country to country have more to do with local demand, government taxes and surcharges, strength of currencies against the US dollar, and the country's oil distribution policies. |

| Posted by SUSIEBLUE1947, 5/31/11 1:34 AM - Permalink JOHANNESBURG May 27 (Reuters) - South African petrol pump prices in the main inland commercial region will edge lower by 2 cents a litre, or 0.2 percent, from June 1, the government said on Friday.
The energy department said in a statement that the pump price for 95 grade petrol would dip to 10.23 rand ($1.50) a litre in that region from 10.25 rand. The coastal price is lower as with the high altitude we use slightly less petrol than at the coast.
The wholesale diesel price will go down by 3.9 percent to 9.26 rand.
South Africa is a net importer of oil and adjusts its fuel price each month to account for changes in the rand exchange rate, the international oil price and government levies.
Just thought I'd give you all that umph about the prices going up and down - cos they do every month! |
